💡 About HEIC and JPG
HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Container, sometimes called HEIF) is the photo format Apple has been using by default since iOS 11. It produces smaller files than JPG at the same visual quality, but support outside Apple's ecosystem is still patchy — Windows Photo viewer, older Android devices, and many web upload forms reject HEIC outright.
JPG (also written JPEG) is the universal lossy image format that has worked everywhere for 30 years. Converting HEIC to JPG trades a small amount of file-size efficiency for compatibility with literally every photo app, website and OS.
❓ Frequently asked questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes. HEIC to JPG conversion is free for files up to 20 MB. No sign-up, no watermark.
- Will the image quality drop?
- JPG is a lossy format, so there is a small recompression step. We use high quality (~85) by default — the difference is invisible at normal viewing distance. For pixel-perfect copies use PNG instead.
- Where are my files stored?
- Files are processed on our servers and automatically deleted within 1 hour. We do not share them with anyone.
- Why convert HEIC to JPG at all?
- HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. Many apps, websites and Windows tools still cannot open HEIC. JPG is the universal fallback that works everywhere.
