🚀 How to use the HEIC converter

  1. 🍎
Open this page on your iPhone or Mac. Or transfer the .heic file to your computer first. We accept .heic and .heif (same format, two extensions).
  2. 📥
Drop the HEIC into the box. Files up to 20 MB. We extract the image, no Apple-specific tools needed.
  3. 🎯
Convert, compress, resize or upscale. JPG and PNG are the most common destinations. WebP keeps the size advantage while staying broadly compatible.

💡 About HEIC

HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Container, also called HEIF) is the photo format Apple has used by default since iOS 11. It encodes ~50% smaller than JPG at equivalent visual quality.

The catch: outside Apple's ecosystem, support is patchy. Windows Photo viewer, older Android, many web upload forms, and lots of design apps still don't open .heic. Converting to JPG or PNG fixes that in one step.

Frequently asked questions

How is HEIC different from HEIF?
HEIC is the file extension Apple uses; HEIF is the underlying ISO standard. Same format. Both extensions work here.
Why doesn't Windows open my HEIC?
Windows requires the HEVC/HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store, which is a paid extension on some SKUs. Converting once to JPG/PNG sidesteps the issue permanently.
Will the JPG be much bigger?
Typically yes — about 1.5–2× the HEIC size at quality 85. The trade-off is universal compatibility.
Are my files private?
Files are deleted within 1 hour. They never leave our servers for any analysis or sharing.
