🚀 How to resize an image
- 📥
Drop your image into the box. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, or GIF. Files up to 20 MB.
- 📐
Pick target size. Quick presets cap the longest side at 480 / 720 / 1080 / 1920 px. Or set exact width × height in the form below.
- 📦
Download the resized file. Aspect ratio is preserved when only width or height is given. Specify both for a precise dimension.
💡 How resizing works here
Resizing is the single biggest lever for shrinking image files — fewer pixels means smaller output, regardless of compression knobs. A 4000-px-wide phone photo resized to 1920 px is typically 4× smaller with no perceptible quality loss for screen viewing.
We use Lanczos resampling, the standard high-quality downscale algorithm. Animated GIFs preserve frame-by-frame timing during resize.
Need to enlarge instead? AI upscale ×2 / ×4 is in the universal converter — Lanczos can't invent detail, so we route enlargement through a dedicated AI model.
❓ Frequently asked questions
- Will resizing reduce quality?
- Downscaling preserves quality — fewer pixels, same sharpness. Upscaling beyond the source dimensions cannot add real detail; for that, use AI upscale (×2 or ×4) on the universal converter.
- How are aspect ratios handled?
- Set width OR height — we preserve the aspect ratio. Set both — the image is rescaled to those exact dimensions (may stretch if the ratio differs from the source).
- What's the max output size?
- Up to 4× the source dimensions for downscale presets. For arbitrary larger targets, use the Width / Height fields in the form.
- Are my files private?
- Files are deleted within 1 hour of upload. We do not share or analyse them.
