PNG is the lossless image format with full alpha-channel transparency — perfect for logos, screenshots, UI mocks, and any image where a white-flatten would be wrong.
Common reasons to leave PNG: convert to JPG when the file is photographic and you want a smaller file (transparency will flatten to white), convert to WebP when keeping transparency but cutting size, or compress / resize when the file is just too big.
❓ Frequently asked questions
- Will I lose transparency?
- Only if you convert to a format that doesn't support it (JPG, BMP). Converting to WebP or HEIC keeps transparency intact.
- Why is PNG so big?
- PNG is lossless — it stores every pixel exactly. For photos this is much larger than JPG. For logos and UI graphics it's appropriate.
- Can I shrink a PNG without converting it?
- Yes — use Compress (lossless re-encode for sub-10% gains, or lossy palette reduction for dramatic savings) or Resize (fewer pixels = smaller file).
- Are my files private?
- Files are deleted within 1 hour. We never share or analyse them.
