🚀 How to convert JPG to PNG

Drop your JPG into the box. Files up to 20 MB convert in about a second.
- ✨
Click "Convert to PNG". We re-encode losslessly. The PNG is identical pixel-for-pixel to the JPG you uploaded — no further compression artefacts introduced.
- 📦
Download the result. PNG output is usually larger than the JPG (lossless trade-off), but it has full transparency support and can be edited without quality loss.
💡 About JPG and PNG
JPG is the universal lossy photo format. Smaller files, but every save introduces compression artefacts that compound on re-edits.
PNG is lossless and supports full alpha transparency. Convert JPG → PNG when you want to edit the image without further quality loss, or when the receiving app/site requires PNG specifically.
Note: converting JPG → PNG cannot recover detail already lost during the original JPG compression. The PNG just preserves what's there from now on.
❓ Frequently asked questions
- Does JPG → PNG improve quality?
- No. The detail lost during the JPG's original compression cannot be recovered. PNG just stops further degradation from happening on subsequent edits or saves.
- Why is the PNG bigger than the JPG?
- PNG is lossless — it stores every pixel exactly. For photographic content this is typically 3–10× larger than the equivalent JPG.
- When should I prefer PNG?
- When you need transparency, when you're going to edit further (each save loses no detail), or when the destination requires PNG (some web forms, design tools).
- Are my files private?
- Yes. Files are deleted within 1 hour of upload and not shared with anyone.
